Internet Archive LogoA bit of a public service announcement, here. It looks like last night, Internet Archive sustained significant fire damage at their San Francisco scanning center. The archive reports that nobody, nor any data was lost in the fire.

The center is used to scan new documents into the archive, and they estimate upwards of $600,000 worth of damage was done to high-end digitization equipment.

Archive.org is asking anyone who can spare some change to do so, in order to help them rebuild. They accept bitcoin donations.

The Internet Archive is a non-profit organization that is designed to build a vast Internet library for research. The website is famous for their “Wayback Machine” which allows users to view snapshots of websites dating back to the 1990s.
