Is having your own Bitcoin wallet hosted on a third-party service just not doing it for you anymore? Perhaps you may take interest in Coinpunk, a do-it-yourself wallet service that gets hosted on your own server(s).
This open-source software, which has been in development since earlier this year, has entered a beta phase, allowing developers to install and run the service (with the caveat that Coinpunk is far from perfected, in terms of stability).
“I’m feeling pretty good about the state of the code now,” writes the creator on the Coinpunk beta page. “It works, and I’ve never lost money using it in production. But because it’s dealing with real money, I need developer help to test it.”
The creator of the project is offering three 0.20 BTC reward (about $40 USD) to any developers who find major flaws/bugs in Coinpunk. So if that made your ears stand up, get going!
More on this as development progresses.
